Rather than work to bring back the real orchestra, the Shreveport Symphony has recently ventured off with something called a "Lite" series. This is an attempt to circumvent our local union musicians by presenting outside groups (like a Russian string quartet) in performance. The series is being presented without the orchestra but that doesn't stop the SSO from boldly pretending as in the following picture from the front of their site (note the section we have highlighted):

The musicians of OPUS, along with other supporters, showed up at the Strand Theater at the first of these Lite concerts to remind people that the musicians ARE the Shreveport Symphony, regardless of whatever non-orchestral concerts are "presented" by the organization. More pictures click here....
